This makes me reflect about cook books. I think they are not sufficiently valued. I own for example an Austrian Grundkochbuch, although I only spent 5 years in Austria, not even 10% of my life. Yet, it's so important to me, I only take the "rules" and basic recipes from that book, no other fancy cookbook will ever have such a meaning....I already love that it can only be read by Austrians and by Austria lovers, that have dived into culture and language: Fisolen are Bohnen, Pfannkuchen Palatschinken, Kartoffeln Erdäpfel, you find Kaiserschmarren und Sophienbraten... The book tells a story about my German aunt married to a terribly arrogant, intelligent Viennese man- still my uncle, whom I learned to love... About a happy, yet life changing, period in my life...
Just an ordinary cook book...
Thanks Lyss, continue writing and drifting with us
What an extraordinary story Astrid 💜! Thank you for sharing, both your aunt and uncle sound fascinating characters and I look forward to seeing your cookbook when I swing by next. Xx
"They are ordinary stories, really.... What is extraordinary is the decision to keep them." So true! Beautiful words Lyss!
