This makes me reflect about cook books. I think they are not sufficiently valued. I own for example an Austrian Grundkochbuch, although I only spent 5 years in Austria, not even 10% of my life. Yet, it's so important to me, I only take the "rules" and basic recipes from that book, no other fancy cookbook will ever have such a meaning....I already love that it can only be read by Austrians and by Austria lovers, that have dived into culture and language: Fisolen are Bohnen, Pfannkuchen Palatschinken, Kartoffeln Erdäpfel, you find Kaiserschmarren und Sophienbraten... The book tells a story about my German aunt married to a terribly arrogant, intelligent Viennese man- still my uncle, whom I learned to love... About a happy, yet life changing, period in my life...
Just an ordinary cook book...

Love this. I noticed since my sister passed and henry and Romy growing up in a digital world, these ordinary especially physical objects are so much more valuable to connect to the past. Books, diaries, handwritten notes, vinyls, clothes, pieces of jewellery, stones, recipes with memories etc
All are more valuable over time - and even more when we know the stories behind.
